Google Ads Cost in South Africa: What You Actually Pay

Google Ads has no single South African price list. Your total cost combines the media budget paid to Google with any management, creative, tracking and landing-page work. The useful comparison is the cost of a qualified enquiry or customer, not the cheapest click.

What changes the price of a click?

The searches you target, competing advertisers, location and campaign setup affect what it costs to participate. A broad national campaign and a narrowly defined local service campaign can have very different economics. Use Keyword Planner with your actual service area and search terms to get estimates; a country-wide average cannot price your campaign accurately.

Separate media spend from service fees

Ask for separate amounts for Google media, setup, monthly management, creative and landing-page changes. Confirm who controls the advertising account and how billing is handled. Cadence quotes Google Ads work for the agreed scope, and platform spend is separate. Website or wider marketing package prices should not be treated as a Google media allowance.

A worked example in Rand

Illustration only: R3,000 in media spend at an assumed R15 per click would buy 200 clicks. If an assumed 5% become enquiries, that is 10 enquiries and R300 media cost per enquiry. If two become customers, media acquisition cost is R1,500 per customer. These are arithmetic assumptions, not South African benchmarks or predicted results; management and other fees would increase total acquisition cost.

How daily budgets relate to monthly spend

For most campaigns using an average daily budget, Google calculates the monthly spending limit as that budget multiplied by 30.4. Daily spend can vary. Check your campaign budget type, billing settings and any budget changes rather than expecting an identical daily charge. Google’s budget documentation is linked below.

What to measure before increasing spend

Review relevant search terms, genuine enquiries, qualified leads and customers. If clicks are relevant but nobody enquires, inspect the offer and landing page. If enquiries arrive but do not become sales, check suitability and follow-up. Increase spend when the business can explain the results and support the cost.
